An Effective Way to Connect with Legal Professionals Offline

survey legal professionalSince I blogged about finding my niche weeks ago, I’ve been researching ways to reach out to legal professionals who specialize in litigation, particularly in the Atlanta area, in order to learn more about their needs.

If you spend considerable time online, you know there’s a lot of great advice on how to use online surveys, social media and other tools to connect with your targeted audience.

When used consistently, all of these methods are effective ways to form and strengthen relationships with business people on the Internet. And even more effective when it comes to sharing content you create with a larger audience.

But, what if your audience isn’t as digital-savvy as you are? What if your ideal client spends more time in the courtroom arguing cases than online networking? How do you connect to discuss his or her needs? These are good questions that I’ve asked myself as well.

For me, telephone surveys are an effective way to connect with litigation attorneys and legal professionals offline, also called – “in real life!” I’ve probably spent more time on the phone in the last week than I have since I started my paralegal business.

I should’ve picked up the phone more often. This simple method fits my personality well and it enables me to obtain more information than a quick online survey.

Recently, I have been able to speak one-on-one with practicing litigators and trial attorneys as well as the paralegals, secretaries and receptionists who support them every day. We’ve discussed legal and administrative bottlenecks, questions and concerns about outsourcing to paralegals, as well as the use of social media in their law firms.

In just one week, I was able to connect with several legal professionals and was even invited to lunch by an Atlanta litigator who is now on my waiting list. How cool is that? Very!

I’ve already blocked off time to continue the telephone surveys throughout April and into May. If you’d like to participate, please complete this contact form, include your telephone number and I will contact you. Or, if you’d prefer, take a minute or two to complete the online survey here.

How about you? How do you connect with legal professionals offline?
