What is a litigation paralegal?
A litigation paralegal provides ongoing legal support to litigation and trial attorneys in criminal and civil actions.
He/she prepares legal pleadings and other court documents, interviews witnesses, gathers and organizes pertinent case exhibits and helps litigators manage claims from inception through discovery, mediation, settlement or trial.
A litigation paralegal can provide an array of legal support services for attorneys, including:
- Back up support for in-house legal teams
- Case management and litigation support
- Research case law in support of motions and briefs
- Prepare legal memorandums and correspondence
- Draft court documents and legal pleadings for attorney’s review
- Prepare medical summaries, case chronologies and time lines
- Create trial presentations
