Static websites need updates too

by Vickie Perry Barker

Publishing your website is a good start to developing an online presence for your business. But, it is just that, a good start. It is the first of several steps needed to build a healthy and rewarding website.

The next step is to begin enhancing the online presence you have invested in. This is where many small business owners neglect their marketing efforts. They invest a large sum of cash in a nice, professional and attractive website, but they do not include regular website updates and optimization services, the “tweaking,” in their budgets.

Update your Website to Reach your Target Audience

Updating your website with fresh, well-written content can not only help you develop a group of loyal readers, it can increase your chances of being found by the search engines.

The bottom line is:

  • You need well-written, keyword-rich content published on your static website;
  • Your website must be updated on a regular basis if you want to rank well in search results; and
  • Broken links and 404 page errors are an absolute no-no, and should be corrected immediately.
